Easter Cards For A Local Care Home

Hello,

Unfortunately 2020 and 2021 have not been the best years for anyone. We have all suffered the effects of Covid-19; whether it be the lost of a loved one, the crippling feelings of loneliness and depression or the loss of our jobs and routines.

During the pandemic, I saw an article from 'Age UK' talking about how lonely many old people have become and how you should write to them and send them letters and postcards to help them keep connected with society.  I myself was aware of my Grandmother feeling very lonely as she has had to isolate at home. As a result of this I have made her several Cards and letters for her to look at and read in order to help her feel as though she is not forgotten.

This also got me thinking about the many elderly people who have also felt trapped during this awful time, including those currently living in care homes, many of whom haven't had any contact with the outside world for over a year.

Therefore in order to cheer up these people and to make sure they still felt connected to the outside world, myself and my friend Nattie (Social Media Links Below) decided to make each resident at a local care home an Easter Card. Inside the cards we hand wrote an Easter Poem and message of Easter wishes and then dropped the cards of at the retirement home.

In total we made about 40 cards between us (though some were sent to are own grandparents)!

Below are the individual images of some of the cards I created.

I would like to encourage everyone to think about sending some cards or letters to elderly people in their local area, as this isn't a hard thing to do, but can really make a difference to someone, by reminding them they are not alone.

Handsewn Felt Christmas Tree Decorations

Hello,

It has been a tradition for many years amongst me, my mother and my brother that we each get a 'special' new Christmas tree decoration each year. Sometimes it will be a decoration with our names on or in the shape of our favourite animal (mine being an owl and my brothers being a monkey!), or it may just be a character that we feel looks like the other person!

Buttercream Cakes

Hello,

I had the joy of being asked to make several buttercream cakes over the last couple of weeks.

One was a Circus Themed Drip Cake for the sister of the 18 year old whom I made the Piggy Swimming Pool Cake for.

I then had to make a Sea Life Themed Cake for a joint Birthday between a Grandfather and a Granddaughter whom both love fish.

Finally it was my mother's birthday so I had a go at making her a cake that I have seen trending as of late - The Fault Line Cake.

Below are some images of the finished cakes!

Bicycle Cards

Hello,

Recently I purchased a bicycle die from 'The Works' and was interested to try and see if I could make both a masculine and feminine birthday card using it.

I loved how both the cards turned out, but I think the masculine one is my favourite as I love how I was able to edit the die cut to include a dog in the basket!

Below are the individual images of the cards I created.

Piggy Swimming Pool Cake

Hello,

I was asked to make a cake for a family friends daughter who was turning 18!

She has a Love of both chocolate and Pigs! So I couldn't resist playing with the idea that pigs love to play in mud, and turned the cake into a chocolate swimming pool for the Pigs!

Below is an image of the finished cake!
