Quilling on Cards

 Hello,

I've decided to take a small break from Christmas card making and instead have a look at one of my favourite techniques for making embellishments for cards.

Since I began card making, I have really liked the look of Quilling.

For those unfamiliar, Quilling involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Quilling can be used to create anything from flowers to animals and even is used to make models and Jewellery.

Below is some photos of some of the cards I have made using quilling:

Christmas Cards - Using Card Sketches

Hello,

I have begun occasionally using card sketches to help me find a starting point when creating cards.

I first came across this idea from someone I found on YouTube called Kristie Marcotte who uploads 6x6" Paper Pad tutorials using card sketches.

I like using the sketches as I feel it starts of my thinking process and then I can change measurement and adapt the sketch to my needs.

Christmas Card Making Starts In September!

Hello,
During the week I was shopping at my local supermarket when I noticed they had already begun to put out their Christmas stock! I couldn't believe it as it was only the first week of September!
It did make me think though, perhaps it is time for me to start with making Christmas Cards; after all I normally need a good amount to send out to family and friends!

Penguin Christmas Cards

I absolutely love this cute Penguin die! I got it last year in an after Christmas clearance sale at Hobbycraft and couldn't wait for Christmas to come around again so I could use it. I find the idea of a penguin having to wear a scarf and gloves so cute!

I especially liked the idea of placing three penguins walking in a row as it reminded me of the 'Three Wise Men', so I had to make them follow a star!

Below are the individual images of some of the cards I created:

Rose Birthday Cards

Hello,

A couple of days after our recent trip to Paris, I was in The Works and came across the Wonderful Sweetness Design Pad. I found it to be such a strange coincidence that one of the pattern papers happened to include images of all the places I had visited; so I decided it must be fate and brought the design pad!

Also it happens to be the friend we visited's birthday in a couple of weeks time, so I decided to use this paper as the background to the card I was making her!

Once I get crafting I sometimes just can't help myself, so I carried on and made some more similar cards.

Below are the individual images of some of the cards I created:

Below is a list of all the supplies I have used on these cards and where I purchased them. If it is possible to still purchase the items there will be links included.
